African honyecomb
At Beeswax Limited, we specialise in sourcing high quality African beeswax from around the East African region. The honey bee colonies around here have the ideal conditions for honey production, free from the chemical / antibiotic treatments used by bee farmers in other parts of the world.

The locations from which our wax originates is remote and far away from commercialised areas and as a result the forage is natural and free from fertilisers used in industrial agriculture.

Rural beekeepingWe work closely with rural farmers helping them maximise their beekeeping revenue from what is often thought of as a waste product.  Our aim is to help improve market access for them with the intention of creating more sustainable livelihoods.

Most commonly, our farmers use traditional log hives and top bar hives which tend to produce more wax.  The Langstroth hive is also often used, and uptake has been increasing steadily.

Bee Farmer

Once the farmers have extracted most of the honey, we collect and bag the crude beeswax comb and move them to our processing plant.

Once at the plant, the combs are then washed and soaked in water after which they are melted and processed into clean filtered beeswax block.

The processing procedures have been assessed and certified to Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) specification and we hold approval to export to the European Union as well as other major markets.

Melted beeswax

Once refined, our wax is highly sought after for use in cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, food and a wide array of other applications.
